Surfing in Coronado

Surfing in Coronado can be done year-round at pretty much two breaks, Pit and Outlet. Each of these Coronado surfbreaks break at different times during the year. Below is a list of the breaks to surf in Coronado.

 

Outlet
Outlet is where most of the surfers head during the summer months, when the south swells roll in. Outlet is located at the North end of the beach near Dog Beach and Spreckles Park. Outlet is a heavy wave and if it is big it is not recommended for beginner surfers. Outlet tends to close out, however rare it get ridiculously good.

Pit
Pit is where most of the surfers head during the Winter time. Pit is a mushy left and right sandy bottom break located between the Hotel Del Coronado and the Coronado Shores. Parking can be difficult in this area especially if it is good. Since this wave is mushy it is easy to surf for all skill levels. Just stay out of the locals way.
